We’ve been working on many small business projects, in a variety of industries. As we help our clients to make their design and building dreams come true, we learn about who they are and their missions. We’re excited to share the dreams and missions of the people we get to work with: our clients. Here are some of our more recent projects.

Elbo Room – Bar/Restaurant – Fort Lauderdale

The Elbo Room bar and restaurant is an institution on the beach in Fort Lauderdale. Founded in 1938, it provides live music and a playful, fun atmosphere. People love to be there, as shown by the 20,000 followers on Facebook! We’re proud to have done the most recent renovation to keep this establishment going for its crowds and fans.

Want to see what’s going on at the beach? You can check out their live webcams – they were the first to put these on, back in 1996. You never know who you’ll see, sunning themselves on vacation or hanging out, enjoying life by the water.

Plated Perfection – Restaurant/Catering – Fort Lauderdale

We’ve been inspired by Willis and his cooking philosophy, which is always striving for perfection. Plated Perfection makes everything from scratch, including the bread they serve (made by a local bakery). As he’s noted on Instagram, they take pride in every aspect of the dishes they create, whether it’s for a catered event, acting as a private chef, or even takeout.

Isaac Medical Group – Medical Facility/Office – Deerfield Beach

The mission of the Isaac Medical Group is to provide high-quality medical care for people of all ages, and they strive to have a positive impact on the health of all their patients by approaching medicine with a mission of “love, kindness, and dignity.”

We were excited to help Emmanuel Isaac create this new office, transitioning the use of the building into a medical facility, which serves their practice of both primary care and diagnosing and treating a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions.

Dr. Isaac prioritizes high-quality care and up-front communication for each patient. He focuses on helping patients manage existing health concerns like diabetes, hypertension, and high cholesterol through available chronic care management services.

Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center  – Medical Facility/Pharmacy – Fort Lauderdale

The Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center (CDTC) is a not-for-profit that serves more than 10,000 clients with special healthcare needs each year. Their mission is to promote the optimal health and well-being of children with special healthcare needs, providing prevention, intervention, and treatment services.

We were proud to be asked to help them create a new in-house pharmacy, which they needed us to build as quickly as possible. It was a tight deadline, but we made it happen.

To celebrate the new facility with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Dave Lacknauth, Executive Director of Pharmacy Services and System Integration for Broward Health, noted: “This full-service pharmacy is essential to improving patient access to critical medications. It allows the CDTC team to better serve our community. Now, families with special needs children can come in for follow-up appointments and easily fill or refill a prescription all under the same roof.”

Imaging Center – Medical Facility/MRI Room – Fort Lauderdale

Creating a room or facility for an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) machine can cost in the millions of dollars (including both construction and equipment purchase). Because of this investment, it’s important for owners to be aware of the necessary structural considerations, special technical demands, and challenges.

For example, the building demands include the weight of the machine; MRI equipment typically weighs 8,000 to 10,000 pounds, with the weight load concentrated over a very small area (4.5-foot square). In addition, building vibrations have to be evaluated because vibrations can reduce the image quality of the scans, and the newest MRI technology is very sensitive to vibrations.

MRI scanners can also produce sound pressure levels in excess of 110 dBA, and the sounds from MRI equipment can be heard and felt throughout a building.  Construction details and material selections are critical for maximizing the absorption and dissipation of sound.

In this MRI project, we tried to “value engineer” a less expensive way to maximize their HVAC requirements and needs. We were pleased with the results, as was our client.

Villages at Renaissance – Residence/Community – Miramar

We’ve been doing a wide of variety of exterior work at the Villages at Renaissance, a community in Miramar. This has included redoing the pool house, as well as creating new “monument” signage throughout the residential community. We’ve also been building the surrounding walls and done extensive interior roadwork.

K9 Trailer Installation – Government – Fort Lauderdale

Every so often we get fun projects that give us insights into what’s going on in our own community. Our Police K9 project was amazing.

The first Canine Unit was created for the Fort Lauderdale Police in 1973. On the Fort Lauderdale website page that provides a history of the Fort Lauderdale Police , they tell the story of a “rookie officer Joe Donisi” recalling the first mission when “he took off in pursuit of a burglar fleeing from the crime. Not knowing there was a K9 on the scene, nor what it was that they did, he caught the culprit and was rolling on the ground with him when the Police Dog sailed over Joe’s head and latched on to the suspect. Donisi continued to try to restrain the suspect, not realizing the dog was doing just fine on his own.”

We saw the training for apprehending a burglar like this first-hand, one evening. We were invited to watch all the trainers and handlers work with their dogs, taking each one through the various training areas. In the ‘find the bad guy’ exercise, the dogs learn how to hunt someone down and then latch onto them (as told in the story above). They don’t let go until they’re given the command by their handler. In this training, other officers play the part of the ‘bad guy,’ and need to wear heavy padding so that they’re not injured when the dogs lock on.

It’s amazing how these officers and animals train, on a weekly basis, to be ready to do their jobs, protecting the Fort Lauderdale community. It was an honor for us to do our work, installing infrastructure in the training area for this unit.
