Making the Critical Repairs
The storm drainage, sinkhole and pavement repairs at Broward Health required timely execution and meticulous planning due to the repairs being located at the Hospital’s main entrance and emergency entrance and exit, and throughout their busy parking lot. The project entailed a repair phase spread across 4-5 days, split into three distinct phases. Based first on thorough evaluation of the site conditions, a dedicated crew set the foundation with preliminary repairs. This was followed by a team ensuring all the repairs were firmly set in place. The last crew gave the final touches, ensuring everything was in perfect order.
There were three different crews with 17 individuals and heavy equipment who worked from morning to evening, bringing their expertise to the forefront. Special attention was given to  sealing and waterproofing the storm drains in order to stop erosion, which caused the sinkholes. The sink holes and pavement were repaired using advanced machinery such as trackers, backhoes, rollers, and compactors were used, ensuring precision and efficiency.
Overcoming Challenges
Every project comes with its set of challenges, and Broward Health’s sinkhole and pavement repairs were no different. One of the focal challenges was around the storm drains that needed repaired. Due to the erosion and natural wear and tear, some areas needed special attention. The team worked diligently, digging where necessary, patching, repairing, and even adding protective measures to ensure longevity.
Certain areas like the loading dock which had seen previous maintenance were given a comprehensive touch-up, rejuvenating the space and ensuring it met the highest standards.
